profil band sum 41

"Well, the guys always figured rock'n roll would get them girls. I always told them they were way too ugly to be interested in girls, and I was right." Mom - SUM 41
The boys of SUM 41 are a veritable tossed salad, a smorgasbord, and a Spam, if you will, of the music that drives today's youth. Punk rock, hip-hop, and skate rock are like butter on breakfast toast to these leaders of the new school. With pounding guitar riffs, drum beats that make your ears quake, and voices comparable only to that of a choir of angels - a choir of Hell's Angels - SUM 41 are the new breed of hardcore. Fast and filthy, SUM 41 rises to a new low in quality street music.

After playing shows with punk acts like Down By Law, Gob, and Ten Foot Pole, SUM 41 are prepared to give the old boys a run for their money with their debut EP "Half Hour Of Power". Released in the U.S. by Island / Def Jam, and in Canada by Aquarius Records / DKD Group, "Half Hour Of Power" punches you right in the nose, and then laughs when you're down. The tracks run like a fat kid to donuts - FAST! Your legs are jittering, your stomach is churning, your hands are shaking, sweat pours down your face, you lose your job, you spend half the day in the bathroom, friends will suggest an intervention, your bank account goes to the shithouse, and you end up alone on the street, naked, hungry, and screaming repeatedly, over and over "SUM 41! SUM 41!" all because you made the right decision and listened to SUM 41. Fuck what your friends say - "I heard that stuff messes you up" or "Yo, my little brother listened to SUM 41 and now he wears like dresses and shit" - because they are just scared. Be a man, or woman, or whatever you are and stand up for what's right and take the plunge into SUM 41. Make no mistake "Half Hour Of Power" is a commitment; a religion, a faith, and SUM 41 will be your God, father, mother, and bee-atch. Cause when you hear it, yo, you're finished.

profil band a day to remember

It would be almost too easy and obvious to describe A Day To Remember as the creators of one of the unforgettable rock albums of 2007, but that wouldn’t make it any less true. Hailing from Ocala, Florida, the five members of A Day To Remember have crafted a unique blend of what can best be called “pop-mosh”—a potent combination of ultra-high energy and tart-sweet melodies. You can hear the melodic chaos in its full glory on For Those Who Have Heart, their debut album on Victory Records.

A Day To Remember aren’t exactly the new kids in the pit. All of the band members had played in the Ocala music scene for years until 2003, when the band in its current incarnation came together. Singer Jeremy McKinnon, guitarists Neil Westfall and Tom Denney, bassist Joshua Woodard and drummer Alex Shellnutt knew they had something special during one specific performance on a special day. “Two years ago we played a Fourth of July show in our home town,” Joshua recalls. “The kids never responded like they did that night; they sang along to every word in our songs, and everything just clicked.”

profil band a bullet for my valentine

2005 has been the year of Bullet For My Valentine. In the past twelve months, the Welsh four piece have exploded into worldwide prominence. Combining darkly crooned rock with earth shattering metal execution, the arena sized sound has taken over, radio, TV and live performances. Releasing their debut full-length “The Poison” in the UK, the album immediately shot to number one at rock radio. Known for their live vigor the group sold out a headlining tour through the UK, as well as high profile tours through Japan and a recent U.S. debut opening for Trustkill Records label-mates, It Dies Today.

Speaking on their recent streak of success, Matt Tuck, lithe and intense eyed vocalist and guitarist, is more matter of fact than arrogant when he says: “What separates us from most other bands is keeping our metal roots; keeping all of the aggressiveness and brutality that we’ve grown up on, but at the same time writing good songs.” Then his tongue slips firmly into his cheek as he adds: And when you put it all together in one good looking, young, 21st Century rock band, you can’t fail!”

To give you an idea of the band’s standing in their homeland, the group is currently gearing up for a headlining spot on an upcoming Kerrang Magazine sponsored tour with Hawthorne Heights supporting them! Of couse all of this momentum is not gathered without hard work and working so hard comes with a price. 24 hours before turning in a foundation rattling gig at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods, Tuck had been hospitalized for exhaustion.

“We’d just been doing too much”, says Matt. “My body just said ‘No more’ and packed in.” But the same protestant work ethic has taken its toll on the rest of the band as well. During a hectic and insanely well received tour of Japan, affable drummer, Michael ‘Moose’ Thomas contracted a potentially fatal strain of flu! “It was horrible”, says Moose “I was on a drip for a fortnight. I reckon I picked it up in those caves.”

profil band bad religion

Bad Religion is an American punk rock band founded in Southern California in 1980 by Jay Bentley (bass), Greg Graffin (vocals), Brett Gurewitz (guitars) and Jay Ziskrout (drums). They are often credited for leading the revival of punk rock and inspiring several subsequent punk bands during the late 1980s, as well as influencing a large number of other punk and rock musicians throughout their career. In the 29 years since its inception, Bad Religion has had numerous lineup changes, and Graffin has been the only constant member, although the band currently features three of the original four members. To date, Bad Religion has released fourteen studio albums, two EPs, three compilation albums, one live recording, and two DVDs. Their 1988 album Suffer has been regarded by some critics as one of the most important punk rock albums of all time, although it was not charted in Billboard. Bad Religion rose to fame with their 1993 album Recipe for Hate, which reached number 14 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart, marking the highest initial charting album in the band's career. Their next album, Stranger Than Fiction, featuring the band's well-known hit singles "21st Century (Digital Boy)" and "Infected", was also highly successful and became the only Bad Religion album to obtain gold status in the US. Following Gurewitz's departure in 1994, Bad Religion declined in popularity and poor record sales continued until the release of The New America in 2000. Gurewitz returned to the fold in 2001, making Bad Religion a six-piece band, and contributed to their three most recent albums. The band has discussed the possibility of recording their next studio album, which is expected to be released in 2010, and will also mark the first time that a Bad Religion line-up had not changed in four consecutive studio recordings.

profil band scary kids scaring kids

Gilbert, AZ. Population: not too many. Hedged away in the Arizona dustbowl, Gilbert is the kind of small, desolate suburb where the overworked end up retiring. While it may seem shocking to hear now, two years ago then-impending high school graduates Scary Kids Scaring Kids
decided that they were ready for a retirement of their own. “We just sort of fizzled out,” remembers now-20-year-old drummer Peter Costa. “We recorded our first EP during our senior year of high school and then we put out it out on our own that June. I don’t think any of us thought for sure that this band had a future.”

And, sure enough, by the summer of 2003, they were in a holding pattern, resulting in one of the shortest-lived successes in Gilbert’s tiny music scene. Months earlier Costa and guitarist Chad Crawford had formed the band with their fellow classmates, guitarist DJ Wilson and singer Tyson Stevens -- borrowing the Scary Kids name from a song by influential emo band Cap’n Jazz, and quickly honing their notoriously raucous live set. Those shows, especially early on, found the band carelessly smashing and recklessly lighting their instruments ablaze. “It just got insane,” Costa recalls. “I remember one time we almost lit the basement of [defunct local rock club] the Nile on fire!”

By the time that Scary Kids recorded their first, independently released EP, After Dark, with local luminary Bob Hoag (Recover, The Format), they were operating on borrowed time. Costa – who was also acting as the band’s de facto manager -- had decided to return to his first love, the piano; seeking out a career as a concert pianist. While Costa began pecking away for eight hours a day his bandmates shrugged, registering for classes at their respective local universities instead. For all intents and purposes, the Scary Kids story should have ended here. But in reality, it had just begun.
